CHALLENGE

Qatar Kharamaa Water Electricity’s main building in Kharamaa Awareness Park has an entire floor plan with offices located underground, lacking natural light.

SOLUTION

A GK-Parans natural sunlight system collector has been installed on the ground, instead of on the roof. Via the fiber optic cables the light is spread to the underground floor via the Point Lights, which are integrated into the grid ceiling. The office workers are now able to enjoy the natural light. The installation has as purpose to increase the well-being of the employees. At the same time the system has been evaluated by Qatar Kharamaa Water Electricity, which has notified that it will decide to approve the GK-Parans natural sunlight system collector as a solution for leading natural light deep into buildings.

The Kharamaa building is LEED certified and has received both 5 Star QSAS Commercial Design Certification and Energy Globe Award 2015 for the State of Qatar Best Sustainable Building 2015.
